Which rules apply
Program flights happen two ways: under Part 107, with the instructor as remote pilot in command and a student on the controls (§107.12(b)), and under the recreational exception (49 U.S.C. §44809, TRUST certificate). Every limit on this page is the Part 107 rule, cited by section, and the program applies those limits to every flight. On a recreational flight the legally operative standard is the safety guidelines of an FAA-recognized community-based organization together with §44809's own conditions — 400 ft AGL in Class G, visual line of sight, and authorization in controlled airspace — none of which is looser than what this page enforces.
