Drone Weather

Current air temperature. LiPo drone batteries lose significant capacity below 40°F — flight time decreases and voltage drops can cause mid-air shutdowns.

Sustained wind speed. The Skyrover S1/X1 is rated for Level 5 winds (max ~24 mph). Red at 22 mph provides a 2 mph safety buffer. Direction shown by arrow.

Peak wind gust speed. Gusts are sudden wind surges that can destabilize a drone faster than sustained winds. Same thresholds as wind speed apply.

Visibility in statute miles. Part 107 requires 3 SM minimum for drone operations. Below 3 SM you cannot legally maintain visual line of sight.

Chance of precipitation this hour. The Skyrover S1/X1 is not waterproof — rain can damage electronics and degrade camera quality.

Height of the lowest cloud layer in feet AGL. Part 107 requires staying 500 ft below clouds. With a 400 ft AGL max altitude, a ceiling below 700 ft is a concern.

Relative humidity. Very high humidity (90%+) can cause condensation on electronics and lens fogging. Combined with temperature, it determines the WBGT heat stress index.

Wet Bulb Globe Temperature — estimates heat stress using temp + humidity. Note: this uses the ABM simplified formula without solar radiation, so actual outdoor WBGT in direct sun may be higher.

Planetary K-index measures geomagnetic storm activity. High Kp values (5+) can degrade GPS accuracy, causing position drift or loss of satellite lock on your drone.

UV radiation level. High UV means more sun exposure risk for the pilot. Wear sunscreen and a hat when flying in UV 6+. Consider shade breaks.
